Sussex

The Duchess of Sussex, aka Meghan Markle, continues to dazzle me
with her understated but standout fashion choices. She stepped out this
week in a pastel pink trench vest/dress that was every bit of classic
perfection. It was a timeless choice that made waves and had every girl (myself
included) googling "trench vest" looking for a suitable alternative to hers
by Nonie (see it here). The Duke & Duchess were paying a visit to an exhibit
honoring Nelson Mandela (see more about their visit here). What did you
think of the look? If you are as big of a fan as me, check below for four
great options at lower price points than hers that comes in around $1000.

Meghan & the Queen

Just a casual train ride and outing with the Queen. Can you
imagine if this was your new normal? Meghan Markle is handling
the transition effortlessly if you ask me. Her wardrobe is adjusting
quite well, too. She emerged in another stunning Givenchy ensemble.

Royal Wedding

We're finally on the home stretch... the Royal Wedding is THIS
WEEK! I can hardly contain my excitement. I'm royally obsessed
and will be one of those that's up in the middle of the night to watch
all the coverage (starting at 3am CST). Who's getting up early to
watch? With the digital world we live in, there will instantly be pictures
available, but I want to see it live.

Now, it's time to jet off to London (I wish!)...

2018 Met Gala

The annual Met Gala is something I look forward to each year.
It's the debut of the new costume collection inside the Metropolitan Museum
of Art. So, celebrities, designers, and the like show up dressed according to the
theme. More or less, it's a very expensive costume party. This year's theme,
(take a peak inside the museum here and don't miss this post highlighting
the perfectly polished table settings).

Putting all that aside, let's focus on the fashion and how it might have been one
of my all time favorite red carpets. The theme lends itself to lavish golds and reds,
heavy embroidery, over the top headpieces, and angelic dresses. I loved seeing
different designers' interpretation of the theme. See all the red carpet looks here.
Don't miss my absolute favorite of the night, Hailee Steinfeld wearing Prabal
Gurung.

White Hat

Check your coat and political views at the door... we need to talk about
the hat. The First Lady stepped out this week in a stunning Michael Kors
suit with a crisp white hat. Talk about making a statement. It gave me a
mix of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, a nod to Scandal (white hats),
a little Princess Diana and a little Kate Middleton... all in all an 80's
and 90's vibe. I was a little obsessed. What did you think?

Times Up

Nobody has been more of a warrior for women's rights lately
than Catt Sadler. She's been on the front lines of the Times Up
movement, but is doing it with class and style. She sported this
lovely lilac and black color blocked dress the other day while rallying
the troops for equal pay. Go Catt go!

Get the look:

2) wear this color blocked number and call it a day
3) go bold in this lilac jumpsuit with the black belt (also love this black
4) pair all of the above with either this shoe or this one
5)  support other women!

Oscars 2018

Who watched the Oscars last night? What did you think?
Sticking to just fashion, I'll say the gowns did not disappoint.
I was on the edge of my seat to see what Margot Robbie would
wear, and her Chanel gown with beaded accents was worth the
wait.

While there were others who (as I was hoping) wore flirty and
feminine gowns with tons of embellishments, there were those that
went more edgy. Lupita N'yongo, Gal Gadot, and Jennifer Lawrence
all opted for heavy metals... something I wasn't expecting. However,
we should all stop and drool over Gal Gadot's Tiffany & Co. necklace.

There were also surprising pops of color, specifically a bright blue.
Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Garner both donned the hue and it
suited both of their skin tones perfectly.

But of course I saved my favorite for last....

Can we stop and talk about Mira Sorvino in Romona Keveza?
I mean.... I died a little. While I'm usually a fan of clean lines,
neutral colors and not a lot of frill, this was the antithesis of that
and I loved every bit of it. I want to live in this dress...

Q & A seven

Q: Will you be illustrating during the Oscars this weekend?

A: YES! The Oscars red carpet is hands down my favorite of the
year. The gowns are strategically chosen, the celebs perfectly poised,
the setting clean and crisp.... it's literally everything I could ask for
as an illustrator. Who will be wearing what? Will there be tons of
color, big goofy gowns, or will it be more subdued with clean lines
and neutral colors? If I had to guess, I'm putting my money on flirty
and frilly details, féminine touches, light colors (I hoping at least one
person shows up in lavender)... an overall nod to a fresh season.

Tune in Sunday afternoon for the red carpet and keep your phone close...
I'll be blowing up instagram with some live illustrating.

Who are you most excited to see Sunday?

Tonya

Let's put aside our thoughts and opinions on what happened
with Tonya Harding and focus, instead, on the lovely lady that
plays her in I, Tonya...

Margot Robbie stunned at last night's SAG Awards in this pale
pink gown with feather accents at the waist. Only she could pull
off adding volume at the smallest portion of her waist. I loved it.

Suits

Is anyone else fascinated by Meghan Markle and Prince
Harry? Fascinated might be too strong of a word.... interested
is more like it. I'm interested in everything they do, everything
she wears, every detail about their upcoming nuptials (will anyone
else be up in the middle of the night watching their ceremony,
because I definitely will be). It doesn't hurt that she's been killing
the coat game lately. She stepped out yesterday in this long overcoat,
matching scarf and black wide-leg pants. Overall, completely chic
and simple.

But, I wonder... how does she take her coffee? Or does she nix
it all together opting for tea instead? Any insight into this would
be much appreciated.

Ms. Markle

Pretty as a princess she is. Who else is super excited for
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle? I love all things pertaining
to the Royal Family, so this was such a welcomed surprise
yesterday morning. And, of course, we're all dying to have
that coat. It's sold out, as expected, but rest easy... I found
some great alternatives. Shop my white coat picks below:

Fabletics

NYFW just wrapped and I can't wait to break down the
latest trends for you in the coming days. One thing that
has been on the horizon that continued to make waves on
the street style stars is metallics. Whether it's a bold accessory
or a statement blouse, heavy metals are here to stay for fall.

While athleisure also has major staying power, let's talk about
actual workout gear. It's an area where you can still be on-trend
while you sweat it out in the gym. Fabletics just released new
pieces for fall and I'm dying over the pops of rose gold. So good.
I can see throwing this crop top on with these pants and hitting the
gym. Throw a jacket in for good measure on those cold mornings.
It's the happiest medium of trendy metallics and comfy (and oh-so-
slenderizing) workout gear. Consider it a win...

Drybar x BFP

I loved working with Drybar a while back on a blogger mailer
with some of their new products. We created custom illustrations
for all the heavy hitters including Leandra (aka, the Man Repeller),
Aimee Song, Kimberley over @eatsleepwear, etc. etc. Below are a
few of my favorites:

If you or your hair are looking drab, pop into your local Drybar
for a quick pick me up! You won't be disappointed (and will probably
walk out with a bag full of goodies you just couldn't live without).

You can also shop their products online at Sephora and Nordstrom just to
name a few!

Kourt

If there's one thing I spend money on, it's accessories. Everything from
watches, sunglasses, bags, etc. etc... that's where my money goes. My wardrobe
is pretty basic (black, white and grey is my color palette), and I mix it up with fun
accessories (mostly in the same colors). I never leave home without a good pair of
shades, so Quay has become my new best friend. (Consider this an unsponsored post;
I'm just a huge advocate for the brand). They are highly durable, affordable, and on-
trend. With the attainable price point, you can go for something on the trendy side
without breaking the bank. My summer go-to has been the mirrored aviators. While
I have an extensive collection of Ray-Bans in the same shape, the Quay version is
lighter on my face which makes for better long-term wear.

While I opted for the silver, this shape is available in multiple colors. Shop
my favorites by Quay (pronounced "key") below:

T G I F

There are some weeks where Friday can't come soon enough and
this was one of those weeks! Looking forward to a weekend of
resting up, hopefully soaking in some sun, and preparing for a
busy week next week!

I've mentioned several times how much I am a fan of Drybar and all of
their products. This is another illustration we did a while back as part of
a campaign for influencers and editors, this one of Eva Chen (signature

Giuliana Rancic x Brittany Fuson 2017

It's that time again.... time to reveal the latest collaboration with Giuliana
Rancic! For this collection, we looked to California for inspiration. From
the hiking through the Hollywood Hills to getting dressed to the nines with
your glam squad, there's a design for everybody.

When you think of California, one of the first things you think of is most likely
Rodeo Drive. We had to come up with a design that captured that essence of
shopping on Rodeo with your bestie (and admiring all the fancy cars as you pass).

Getting to the true roots of Giuliana's lifestyle, we had to include a design that
also paid homage to how the two of us connected. A while back, I illustrated her
and her glam squad. I took a shot in the dark and mailed the illustration (with a copy
for each member of her glam squad) to E! News with her name on it. Flash forward
a few months later, I saw it in the background of an E! News scene in her dressing
room. I knew she had received the prints, and a few months after that, the email
came from a PR company that was putting together an event for her new HSN
denim line launch. They wanted me to be in LA within the following two weeks to
live illustrate during the event, and the rest is history! So, this is really how it all
began.

One of my favorites from this collection is the outdoorsy girls taking
a hike with the beloved pooch. Whether it's through the Hollywood Hills,
along the coast of Malibu, or through your local park, get outside!

And of course, two besties riding along the Santa Monica pier, which
is summer goals if I've ever envisioned it.

All of these designs are available exclusively on HSN and are on a short-sleeve
shirt that is a longer fit (more of a tunic length). Here are a few iPhone shots
of me in them so you can get an idea of the fit.

Get them quick before they sell out (click here)! Each collection is printed in
small quantities, so once they sell out, they're gone forever.

For those asking about the travel series we did in December, the shirts are
sold out, but the scarf and sweatshirts are still available in limited sizes.
Grab one while you can! The sweatshirt is absolutely the softest material
ever - you'll be living and sleeping in it.

Oscars 2017

If you didn't watch the Oscars last night, please tell me you have at
least heard about the dramatic ending. Such an epic fail.

But let's focus on the red carpet...

I loved how Voila Davis and Ginnifer Goodwin both stepped out in bold red.

Brie Larson's bold black velvet gown was breathtaking and seems to
be an emerging trend for fall (velvet - Busy Phillips also wore the trend).
I love the unexpected ruffle and interested hemline. I was a big fan of this one.

Janelle Monae is never one to fly under the radar and killed it in this over the top
detailed black and white gown. I might have preferred it without the side panels, but
it's the kind of look we've come to expect from her and I look forward to seeing what
she's wearing. A true statement maker.

White was a huge trend last night. From Priyanka Chopra in this structured
column gown from Ralph & Russo to Naomie Harris (who sadly I had never heard
of) but my goodness, she is absolutely stunning. I love the simple sequins in
such an interesting cut. Chrissy Teigen is also one who never disappoints and
looked oh-so-pretty in this white goddess gown. One of my favorite white gowns
was worn by Darby Stanchfield (Abby for my Scandal watchers). Such a
different dress that was truly breathtaking.

Then there were the girls in gold. Winner Emma Stone looked age-appropriate
in this sleek flapper-inspired gown that was pretty, but it didn't make me swoon.
Nicole Kidman also looked understated and like the true movie star she is, like
meh, this is my 15th Oscars, I'm going to be comfortable. She looks effortless as
per usual, it's really not fair. Jessica Biel also looked completed stunning in this
detailed gold, sequined gown with a bold accessory. I loved it. But did you see
her after party dress? I can't decide which one I love more.

My two favorites were like breaths of fresh air when they appeared. First,
my girl, Giuliana Rancic stunned in this periwinkle gown with an added cape.
Nobody else on the carpet had on a similar color so it stood out in the best way.
Truly truly stunning. (Speaking of fresh colors, Demi Lovato showed up to the
after-parties in this beautiful lavender gown that makes my heart skip a beat.
So pretty).

And then there was the princess of the night, Hailee Steinfeld (also in
Ralph & Russo). The back was just as interesting as the front, it had so many
interested details, and the airiness of it was just etherial. I want to borrow
this one and just twirl and prance around a castle. It's true princess perfection.
Her outfit change was also well worth it donning another Ralph & Russo gown
this one a more sleek column gown with a dramatic train.

First Daughter

I couldn't get over not only Melania Trump's inauguration look, but
also Ivanka's. Again, let's set politics aside for a moment and appreciate
fashion at it's finest through the designs of Ralph Lauren (creator of Melania's
powder blue look), and Oscar de la Renta, the designer behind Ivanka's asymmetrical
pant suit. I illustrated the former First Daughters four years ago (here), so it's only
fitting to include our newest First Daughter and First Granddaughter...

FLOTUS

This is not about politics. It's about fashion.

Setting our political views aside, can we talk about how stunning
Melania Trump looked in this powder blue suit by Ralph Lauren?
It was everything I was hoping for and more. I was left with so many
questions, though. Like what was in the Tiffany's box she presented to
Michelle Obama?

When she got in the "Beast" for the first time (the presidential limo),
she applied lipgloss. Where was she hiding this gloss? What brand was it?
And lastly, after hours of sitting at tea/coffee, lunch, the inauguration, etc.
how did she NOT have any wrinkles in her dress? We'll never know...

To be fair, the illustration I did of the former First Daughters Sasha and Malia
