Red Barnes

When Kathleen of Carrie Bradshaw Lied posted this look,
it made me stop in my tracks. A red cape-like piece that's
casual enough to wear with jeans but could also be a real
statement at a cocktail party when paired with something
dressier. Gasp. I love it!

Cabbing It

When you have to get out and run errands while your car is in
the shop, you're only left with one option.... take a cab (or Uber).

Pink Plaid

I don't know if it's because Valentine's Day is this week or what,
but I'm majorly color crushing on blush pink... especially blush
pink coats! Could there be anything better to brighten the cold
winter days?

Ryan

There's just something about the days and weeks leading up
to Valentine's Day... I become the biggest sucker for all things
pink and red. The two in combination makes an even more
festive look. Try to not overdo it and, but pink and red
together can actually be quite chic.

Belt Bag

Ok, so let's talk about belt bags, aka fanny packs.
Thoughts?

I was such a hater for a while but have kind of changed my
tune in recent weeks. Yes, this Gucci belt bag is the ultimate
in chic fanny packs, but let's be serious.... the steep price tag
is less than ideal. While I find this to be a trend (aka, short lived),
it's one that I'm willing to try for its practicality. However, I'm
more in the let's buy a cheap one to see how this goes mindset.
So, I found a few options on Amazon (all under $30) and a couple
on Nordstrom that are all worth a shot. If I wear it once, it won't
feel like a total waste of money.

Glitter

Switching gears from gift guides to what to wear, 'tis the season!
Holiday parties are in full swing and the best way to jazz up your
outfit this time of year is to add a little sparkle. Start with your go-to
little black dress, add a fun earring and a pop of glitter with a pair
of sequined booties... helloooo holidays (or is it holidaze?).

Don't forget that you can always find our full 2017 Gift Guide here.

What to Wear... to Thanksgiving

The countdown is on... while the day after Halloween is usually the kick
off for Christmas in my family, we have one holiday getting in the way.
Thanksgiving is one week away! The question remains (and is a stresser
every year), what to wear?? You want to be comfortable while you indulge
in absolutely everything you avoid every other day of the year. It's a day of
good food and good family time, so what's the happy medium of looking
cute while still being able to participate should a backyard flag football game
be proposed?

In my family, we keep it casual. I stick to some sort of jeans and a trendy
sweater combo. Throw on boots, booties or a statement flat and call it
a day. Thank goodness looser jeans are in this season... that second piece
of pecan pie is definitely happening.

Remember, a family photo is definitely going to happen, so don't wear
something you'll already regret next year.

What to Wear... this fall

The weather completely tricked me into thinking fall was coming soon.
We had a few days of more brisk temperatures followed by today which
has been hot and humid, the story of summer in the south.

However, fall is near. It really is. Even if the temperatures stay warm,
we can start transitioning our wardrobes by introducing booties paired
with lighter tops, sleeveless sweaters with shorts, sandals with a light
sweater. September is basically the month where anything goes. It's still
entirely too warm to bundle up in sweaters and boots, so go for more
lightweight options while scanning the September issues to see what trends
are heading our way.

One trend that is going to be making huge waves this fall is velvet. Whether
you wear a velvet tee, purchase a small handbag of the same material, or try
to find the perfect velvet heel (like this one or this one), it's going to be big.
Pick your piece, but remember to stick to one velvet item per outfit. Make
your look even more on-trend by making your velvet a deep, fall-inspired
floral. Shop my favorites below:

What to wear... to your bridal shower

We're thrilled to start a new series called What to Wear (Wednesday).
What to wear, for instance, to your 10 year high school reunion? You
want to look good but not like you're trying too hard. What to wear to
a black tie wedding in the middle of summer? We're going to start covering
it all...

Let's start with what to wear to your bridal shower...

There is sure to be more than one, and you most likely want to wear white to
at least one of them, because why not? You are the bride... this is all about you.
The good news is in the summer there are a plethora of white dress options at
your fingertips. We're all very familiar with the trends of the season (bell sleeves,
ruffles, layered silks). Choose a dress that is seasonally appropriate and not too
trendy (you don't want to look back at the pictures and have a major eye roll
moment). We picked four white dresses below that are worth considering.
They're all classically elegant and are sure to wow.

This is your moment. Own it. Wear white as much as you want. And don't
forget to send your thank-you notes as soon as possible (see our bridal
notecards here, and add a personal touch by adding "Thank You from the
Future Mrs." to the top under personalization).
