Summer Sunday

Can we all rejoice that wide leg pants are not only the best thing

ever, but they're now the biggest trend of the summer? Can I get

an amen?

I found this cute pair at Nordstrom and have lived in them since

I purchased them. They're super lightweight and pair well with heels

or flats. Are they cropped? They look that way on the model, but with

my short legs, they hit at about my ankle (I'm 5'7" for reference). I'm

embracing the in between length...

Hunter Tory

At this point, I have yet to see a slide sandal that I don't like.

I've already jumped on board and invested in the trend, so let's

hope it has staying power! This pair from Tory Burch caught

my eye immediately during her fashion show last September.

I love the bright orange understated pattern, but my favorite

part is the terry cloth material. Perfect for the pool! Pair them

with an easy shirt dress and a fun bag and you've got a simple,

April Showers

Finally, we have a day of sunshine. But we all know that the

month of April is notorious for stormy weather. It's time to have

the Hunter rain boots and umbrella on standby. It's also the perfect

time of year to pick up a great trench coat. Even if it's sunny outside,

it's a great mid-weight jacket for the cooler temperatures. I found

this one the other day and I think it's the perfect option for a classic

trench.

When Kathleen of Carrie Bradshaw Lied posted this look,

it made me stop in my tracks. A red cape-like piece that's

casual enough to wear with jeans but could also be a real

statement at a cocktail party when paired with something

dressier. Gasp. I love it!

There are so many new trends emerging for Spring... when will the cold 

weather go away for good? One that I've been watching become more and

more prevalent is polka dots. They've been seen on every heavy-hitting 

influencer in their everyday looks and on the streets of Paris Fashion Week.

One that stood out to me was this look by Danielle of We Wore What. A

fresh take on spring dresses with an asymmetrical hemline, a fresh pattern of 

polka dots... consider this a must-try.

Gingham, take 2

Following up on yesterday's post with more love for the must-have 

print of the season, gingham. It immediately makes me think of southern 

springs and summers, but I think it's a classic and can be worn anywhere.

I stumbled across this top and was immediately smitten. Think of it with a

pair of cropped jeans.... perfect for spring!

The illustration itself is a few years old, so I located a few similar options

Belt Bag

Ok, so let's talk about belt bags, aka fanny packs. 

Thoughts?

I was such a hater for a while but have kind of changed my

tune in recent weeks. Yes, this Gucci belt bag is the ultimate

in chic fanny packs, but let's be serious.... the steep price tag

is less than ideal. While I find this to be a trend (aka, short lived),

it's one that I'm willing to try for its practicality. However, I'm

more in the let's buy a cheap one to see how this goes mindset.

So, I found a few options on Amazon (all under $30) and a couple

on Nordstrom that are all worth a shot. If I wear it once, it won't

feel like a total waste of money.

If you've ever wondered about my personal style, this is

pretty accurate for fall. Distressed jeans. A simple color

palette. Great sweaters. A go-to boot or bootie. I love adding

fun accessories, but I keep my wardrobe simple. What's your

go-to style this time of year? 

What to Wear... to chill

I'm not sure if it's because I'm officially "in my 30s" or if it's

because loungewear has become it's own category on most retailer's

websites, but it's time to step up my lounge game. There are too many

good options to say no. Even places like Target have increased the size

of the pajama/loungewear department. It's time, y'all... it's time.

Whether you're hanging out at home alone, inviting your best girlfriends

over for the Bachelorette finale, or having a Netflix and chill night with a

significant other, throw on something comfy but cute. It's as simple as a

cute pair of track shorts, a basic white tee, and a long cardigan (something

I plan on living in this fall). Start with that combination and add your own

spin to make yourself more comfortable (I see changing out the shorts for 

my old faithful high-waisted leggings when the temps drop). 

The long cardigan is something that can almost double as a robe around

the house (especially early in the morning when it's always 10 degrees

colder inside, someone explain that one to me). Here are some of my

curent favorites that are light enough to wear around the house and will 

be the perfect choice when fall arrives:

I'm also positively obsessed with anything from Barefoot Dreams 

including this sweatshirt. I would live in this. I also cannot curl up

on the couch without my favorite BD blanket. It's the softest thing in 

the world as most of their products are, AND it's included in the 

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It's the perfect time to pick up a few

early Christmas presents if you ask me (it's available in multiple colors 
here)!
