I'm with the band

One of the things I have noticed lately that I'm kind of loving is the fringe shoulder pads that closely resemble part of a marching band costume. Whether it's fringe, feathers, or fake hair....it is bound to make quite a statement.

Friends & Fashion

So, something that has been going on lately that I have totally neglected to discuss is the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital fashion show. It is a luncheon held every year that includes a fashion show put on by Belk. I have always wanted to go to this event with my mom, but I've always been in school. Well, unfortunately and fortunately, I'm not in school anymore so I finally got to go!

I was approached a few months ago by the co-chairs of the event about designing the invitations for this year's 20th anniversary edition. Of course, I agreed and below you will find the invitation laid out as the cover of a magazine as well as the program, a supplemental invite to a Belk shopping night, the VIP magazine ad, and some photos from the event itself. Thank you to everyone who came to the luncheon and/or donated to this worthy cause! (And thanks to those who purchased something from me!)

edie part 4

What do you think, bathing suit or she forgot to wear pants? I wish I knew the answer. All I know is that she looks fabulous no matter what the scenario.

edie part 3

I promise, I'm almost done with Edie and then I will switch to a new subject. She inspires me.....

My fascination with Edie Sedgwick continues. I love the black and white photos I keep finding of her. LOVES.

All About You

My new favorite products, shea butter & all-natural sugar scrub from All About You. These products come in 4 equally fabulous scents... I seriously don't have a favorite. The latest one to hit the shelves is Coconut Mango, which is perfect for summer!

(Bubbling milk bath - also very fabulous)

(shea body butter & sugar scrub)

feet first

Back from a mini vacation, if you could call it that. First order of business, changing of the nail polish. My new color of choice is OPI Bubble Bath. This is my kind of bubble bath (with a new spin on the "feet" of a bath tub):

the ladies of McNeal

A recent project I have been working on....

I was approached by the owner of McNeal Wedding Films to create an image for her blog. They pride themselves on being a team of 6 women who notice the fine details on the biggest day of your life that the opposite sex may not pick up on. Here is a stylized representation of their team:

And here is how they laid it out on their blog incorporating their logo:

become someone's fairy godmother

The

Fairy

Godmothers

need

your

help!

This organization welcomes any size, color, and length dress but they must be less than 5 years old and in good condition. Now you have a way to make good use of those old bridesmaids dresses that are sitting in your closet collecting dust 27 Dresses style. Old prom dresses are welcome, too! Drop them off at the Factory THIS Saturday, March 13th from 11-3.

The Fairy Godmothers will then take these dresses and set up a dress drive where the deserving girls of Nashville will have the opportunity to pick one out FREE of charge. What a great cause and way to give back to the local community! Every girl deserves the chance to look & feel beautiful at her prom even if she can't spend an outrageous amount on a dress.

Help a sister out...

WORST DRESSED

Let's start with the worst of the worst from last night's Oscars...need I say more?

My least favorite dresses that matched the carpet:

Least favorite blushy neutral tones:

SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE

On to the looks I'm indifferent about, Sandra & Jennifer Lopez (why was she there anyways?):
BEST DRESSED

Best dressed of the men:

On to the good stuff, best dressed women that played it safe but still looked gorg:

On to my three BEST DRESSED:

3. SJP, thank you for giving us something interesting, different, and CHANEL.

2. Zoe Saldana took a dress straight from the runway to the red carpet. It's a dress you either love or hate, and I love. She is probably the only one that could pull it off and I thought it stood out against all the other boring colors and shapes worn on the red carpet (probably because it's couture).

1. And finally, my best dressed from the Oscars, (I kind of hate to say it), but it's Miley Cyrus. I loved not only her dress, but her entire look from hair, makeup, dress & jewelry. I also loved the different fabrics and textures used... I loved it, end of story.

socialite

One of my favorite people right now is Olivia Palermo from The City.

I   l o v e  her & all her fabulous clothes. Not only would I die for her closet, but I would also like to have her body please. Thanks.

She always dresses feminine but not too young, classy but not stiff & boring. I wish I could wear a center-part with twisties in a bun and look like this.

Take me shopping please!

nail color of the week

Fun fact: I paint my nails at least once a week, sometimes twice. This week's color of choice, "Vodka & Caviar" by OPI. This is what that makes me think of:

I have no idea how caviar is typically served, but I live in the south. So, I would imagine it would be much better on a cracker doused in some yummy sauce or even fried (people fry oreos, I think they could figure out how to fry caviar).

Too bad the color is actually red (don't judge my feet).

Cheers!

Dear Mary Kate & Ashley,

Please stop designing (or stamping your name on someone else's designs) precious shoes that I feel lost without. Do I NEED any of these? No, but how nice would it be to have one pair. For "designer" shoes, they are slightly on the low end but definitely still an investment. Some of my favorites from their Elizabeth & James line:
