Nautical

I'll admit it, I've been terrible about blogging lately. I've been a little busy PINNING.....gaaaa what a great way to waste time.

Anyways, a little nautical to kick off the summer!

Oprah

Did anybody (and/or everybody) see Oprah's finale show yesterday? Ms. Winfrey looked ever-so-chic in her pink ensemble. And I couldn't take my eyes off that bracelet.

Duchess of Cambridge

Kate Middleton....what did her married name become? Kate Wales? Help me out with this one....

Nevertheless, as I've said before, she's fabulous. And continues to become even more of a fashion icon with her simple but classic style. She makes this $340 Reiss dress look like it costs $1000.

Not to mention that her ring is the ultimate accessory, and she knows how to let it steal the spotlight.

New York

So, I'm here in New York for the stationery show...with no computer (so old school). Heretofore, I'm blogging from my phone where I don't have any pictures.

All that to say, that is why I've been so absent on my blog this past week getting prepared for the show. We are here and all set up, ready for the show to start tomorrow! Unfortunately, (as fun as this is) I probably won't be blogging from the cellular for the next few days. Be back Thursday with a full report.

Red Rain Boots

So, it was brought to my attention that I needed more brunette options for notecards (funny that I didn't even notice as I am now a brunette).

Anyways, here's what I came up with....what do you think?

What shall we name her? She reminds me most of my friend Sarah, but I already have a Sarah and a Garland (her middle name), so I'm at a loss. I want her to have a name name, not "Red Boots" or something to that effect. Send me your thoughts! Who does she remind you of?

Inspired by these photos (via Atlantic-Pacific):

Send me your ideas asap so she can be added to the collection!!

MET Costume Institute Gala 2011

Last night's annual MET Costume Institute Gala red carpet did not disappoint. It was like a grand finale to everything we've seen in fashion, on red carpets, and in current events over the past year. McQueen has become a household name (as well as Sarah Burton) what with being the name behind Kate Middleton's dress (no big deal). It was only appropriate that his legacy was honored last night. There were also strong influences of Black Swan, and I couldn't help but notice how prevalent Marchesa was on the red carpet.

To set the scene, it looks like this very well could have been the sight of William & Kate's reception, straight out of an English garden:

It was obvious that these people were wearing their Royal Wedding attire since they got snubbed on an invite. Doesn't quite work over here...Ashley Olsen's sleeves were a spitting image of Diana's wedding gown. It looks like Serena Williams wanted to be the bride.

White done right, and wrong....Emma Roberts is quickly becoming a little fashion-icon.

Major trends from last night were GOLD and long sleeves. Long sleeves everywhere. There were also a few refreshing pops of color (I LOVE Brooklyn Decker's hot pink look). And Gwyneth takes the cake in the gold category.

Sometimes less is more. These classic & simple dresses were fabulous. Stella McCartney's uneven hemline and contrasting lining were gorg. I love her.

Black (and white) Swans...

Christina Ricci in Zac Posen was the stand-out Black Swan queen.

More ballerina influence: Top Knots galore...

Gowns with details that caught my eye...

Let's get to the bad before I tell you my favorites...

Prints that just did NOT work:

Others that are just beyond words... these people can choose from almost anything to wear to this event, and they chose these?? Really, what were they thinking?

So, who reigned supreme? These lovely ladies came close...

...but the Queens of the night were Renee Zellweger and Diane Kruger (AND Brooklyn Decker & Gwyneth Paltrow in my opinion). Do we even need to talk about Renee's back? Gaaaaa.....

Not sure what I'm more jealous of with Brooklyn, the fact that she's married to Andy Roddick, or the fact that she's my age, or both.

Royal Wedding pt. 2

I'll eventually get over the Royal Wedding, but for now, illustrations for all.....

I couldn't decide which one to do out of Kate's 2 looks & Pippa, so I just did all 3:
