Shopper

So a few weeks ago I participated in Christmas Village (as I'm sure you already know). While I was there, a girl stopped in my booth and her outfit caught my eye. The simplicity and ease of her look is what I strive for each day, while still looking chic and put together (without looking like you tried too hard). As I warned her that she might appear on my blog, here she is. Her mauve-y, blushy over sized sweater, dark jeans, tan boots, and statement necklace definitely made an impact on me. Well done girl.

Oh, and don't forget to head over to my "Paper Doll" tab to see what item I added today! There's also a new event posted on the "Upcoming Events" tab.

NEW feature

I'm so excited to unveil the latest feature on my blog, PAPER DOLL.....a page devoted to my new paper doll where I will build an outfit each week. I will post a new article of clothing or accessory each day. At the end of the week, I will put it all together for you and draw her new outfit!

I've decided to devote the entire month of December to sequins......the perfect amount of sparkle for the holidays! Today's feature, a sequin skirt with textured tights.

Check back each day under the Paper Doll tab to see what I've added!

Turkey Day Casual

As promised, for those of you that prefer something a little more low-key for tomorrow, here are some options:

Love this look from Gap, love the color palette, love everything about it.

Also loving this layered look from J.Crew, jeans, button-down oxford, sweater, cropped jacket. Perfection.

OR, trade in the traditional button-down for a large gingham print (also from J.Crew).....

And throw this lovely cape over it if you're cold.....

Trade in your jeans for some cropped cords....

And, if you're not a button-down kind of person, I love these two sweaters (from J.Crew).....so easy to throw on with jeans or cords.....

Or, go a totally different route with jeans (or cords), a layering tee and a big fluffy sweater.....my outfit of choice.....

I obviously have a color choice in mind for tomorrow.....Happy Turkey Day-Eve!!

Turkey Day Dressy

It's time to start planning your outfit for Thursday!! Here are my thoughts....it has to be comfortable, loose, but still look chic all at the same time. And, preferably, wrinkle-free as you will most likely be in the same thing ALL day.

Option 1 (inspired by a new photo on my inspiration board).....

Not sure you want to go-go as you stuff your face with stuffing?? Try this look for less (I would assume)......

Option 2.....

Try this easy black shift dress from Gap. It's loose, looks comfortable, only $69.50, and is slightly more dressy than your average Turkey Day ensemble. Pair it with some textured tights and ankle boots and you'll be the best dressed at the party.

So cute.
Are you more of a t-shirt and jeans (stretchy of course) kind of person? More casual looks coming tomorrow.......

Favorite Fur

Obviously, I'm still pulling from my inspiration board because I'm still in a black & white mood.

Pick your favorite fur......

Black & White Stripe

It's a dreary day, heretofore, I'm having a minor creative block. So, I'm sharing my new purchase from a late night trip to Urban......this cropped black & white stripe sweater that's longer in the back.

I plan on wearing it with my Levi's (also from Urban) and my new black "suede" boots from Forever 21.

It's cold, so I'll probably throw on my favorite eternity scarf (from America Apparel), and rest assured, if it's cold, I'm heading to Starbuck's.

It's all about finding your signature style, and mine definitely includes black, white, and black & white stripes.

Take a cue from the boys

Love this picture I found on The Sartorialist. It was tagged, "Simple Accessory, Big Impact" and I have to agree. I think it works just as well on a female.

I mean, I can't even go there yet. I'm still trying to bounce out of my deep state of depression.

Coat Report

Coats and jackets (and shoes) are some of my favorite items to buy each year. I have more coats than a person could ever need, but I consider them collector's items as I try to stay away from trendy pieces that will only last one season. Some of the coats in my closet have been in my possession for 5+ years. Stick with the classics and you're bound to get your money's worth.

Here are some of my favorites right now (some of which I have already covered in previous posts):

CAMEL
This is one of my favorite coats I've seen this year, and it's from Talbots of all places....

POP OF COLOR
I love this bright plaid coat from Vivienne Westwood (via Net-a-Porter).....

UPDATED CLASSICS
All of these put a spin on a classic (in color, shape and style) coat (all from Net-a-Porter)....

SEQUIN
Perfect for all the holiday parties that are just around the corner....

And finally,
FURRY, CHUBBY, LEOPARD

instyle magazine

elle magazine

My favorite place to find great coats is Net-a-Porter. It's a great place to find the latest styles and trends in  every category. I like to start there and then search the internet high and low for more affordable look-a-likes. My favorite places to find these cheaper but just as good options:

Old Navy (I have 2 coats from there that have lasted me a few years)
Victoria's Secret
Piperlime
Banana Republic
J. Crew

On tap for tomorrow? LEATHER.
