Look what resurfaced today....from the archives. Not only did my brother and I have matching one-sies with the neighbors, but mine had ruffles (hand-sewn on by my mother). AND not only on the front, but I had a ruffly bottom, too. This piece is most definitely NOT going in the garage sale.

life in plastic, it's fantastic
Where have I been, you might ask. Well, let me tell you....
Lately all my time & energy has either gone to finishing up a huge pile of custom projects or towards cleaning out our house.....yes, we're having a garage sale. Dread....
The garage sale was my idea, so I can't back out now. However, I really wish someone would just come and haul everything off so we don't actually have to have the sale. It's amazing how much trash fills up your attic, and how much stuff you accumulate over the years. To top things off, it's supposed to be pouring down rain Saturday morning in Nashville. More dread.....
All this to say, I have come across many interesting things in the midst of the junk. First thing I was excited about stumbling upon, my old Barbies. Now, those that know me should not be surprised when I say I had a LOT of Barbies. I was a girly-girl as prissy as they come, and Barbies were my top priority as a child. As the years progressed and their new-ness wore off, I began to give my Barbies makeovers. Another shocker, right? What might have had some value down the road for their "vintage qualities" now either have no hair, or have Expo marker colored hair in shades of red, blue, green, and black. I went through a painful phase of cutting and coloring their hair, Brittany-style, with markers.
Barbie's clothes and shoes were stored in, wait for it, a Caboodle. Love it......

go green
Earth Day 2010, what are you doing today to be a little greener? I am no poster-child for going green, as I use about 10 post-its per day and there are currently about 20 of those post-its in my trash can that should be in the recycling bin instead. Being the not-completely-green person I am, I do think even the smallest things can make a difference. Today, I challenge you to just turn off the lights when you leave a room instead of leaving them on all day. Baby steps.....
Another thing you can do is buy recyclable shopping bags (so trendy right now). There are tons out there, but one of my favorites is the FEED bags. With the purchase of one of these bags, you are helping feed the children of the world who may not get breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday like we do. The bag itself is also made of organic cotton and natural burlap. Click on the link below to learn more about the organization and find out how you can contribute.

more blogs I frequent
I thought I would update you on my daily blog visits. The list has grown.....
Below you will find a variety of blogs, but they are all semi-fashion-related in my book. I click through my bookmarks at the top of my page with lightning speed but make sure to take in all the new updates on each page. These pages continue to inspire me not only in a creative way, but also to continually update my blog. Trust me, there are days when you sit and look at the computer screen and go, I have absolutely nothing to say today. After clicking my way through the blog world, I can usually come up with something thanks to the pages listed below.
My soon-to-be-sister-in-law started a blog, and she is a much better writer than me. (This is why I use so many pictures and not a lot of words).
The Impossible Cool, the ultimate source for classic black and white photos of some of Hollywood's greatest.
Style Blueprint, a great source for local Nashville shopping & eating.

aisle-style
Check out some of the latest collections from the 2011 Bridal Fashion Week. If you know me, then you know I am obsessed with weddings, especially the dresses (and the cake of course!). The amount of work that goes into each of these beautiful gowns is a wonder in itself.

house of harlow
I see great things style-wise in the near future for Harlow Winter Kate Madden-Richie or whatever her full name is. With Nicole Richie as a mom, she's bound to have a unique sense of style that others will try to duplicate but fail miserably. If only we could all go back to the days of tutus and tiaras....
